How to use an old phone as a dashcam

Check the phone first

Test the camera, charging port, battery condition, storage and ability to run Dashoo for a complete journey. A phone that stops or overheats is not ready for dashcam duty.

Mount and power it safely

Use a stable mount, keep the road view clear and connect continuous power. Do not place the phone where heat or glare makes recording unreliable.

Set up loop recording

Start recording before driving and use loop recording for ordinary journeys. Protect and export any clip you want to keep.
